The short slate has us with limited hitting options, so I will most likely go very chalky. Commentary based on DraftKings strategy and scoring.
Speaking of chalk, there is not better team to stack today (and most days) than the Blue Jays. The league’s best offense is going to take on Matt Wisler who owns the second worst xFIP on the slate and is walking a massive 6.17/9 over the last 30 days. Despite losing their DH by traveling to a National League park, the Blue Jays are still a potent offense that can score anywhere.
The Troy Tulowitzki injury has opened the door for Cliff Pennington ($2,000) to make some starts for the Blue Jays. He’s played admirably and is returning tremendous value to his owners. It’s nearly impossible to find a min-priced player who’s eligible at multiple positions in the best lineup in the league. Pennington has scored 36 DK points over his L4 games and will be in most of my lineups again tonight.
When Tommy Pham ($2,700) plays, he plays really well! He has now scored 56 DK points in his last two games including 3 HRs in those games. I can’t imagine he will be out of the lineup today considering his hot stick. Confirm that he’s playing and hope he feasts on Jimmy Nelson who has surrendered 15 ERs in his L20.1 IP.
Have about another value play at the catcher position? Matt Wieters ($2,500) is coming off a day of rest and will face his old friend Matt Moore. Wieters is a much better hitter from the right side and has had good success off Moore. A career .571 (8-14) hitter with 2 HRs.
If you’ve been reading this column regularly, you know I am a big fan of Evan Longoria ($3,900) right now. It’s been a down week for Longo, but he’s getting a great matchup with Chris Tillman this evening. Longoria is a career .348 (16-46) hitter off Tillman with 6 HRs.
