The player with the highest average game over the L30 is Josh Tomlin ($10,400). He’s averaging 25.69 DK points per game over his L5 starts. He’s been absolutely dazzling and will look to carry that momentum into tonight. Unfortunately this matchup is with the Kansas City Royals. You know that I do not make a habit of targeting pitchers against the Royals and that is the case again tonight. As usual, the Royals are dead last in the league when it comes to striking out. They simply do not strike out! That makes for a tough task for the pitcher in the real game and in terms of fantasy where Ks are so valuable. I will be avoiding Tomlin tonight.
The pitcher with the second highest DK points per game in the L30 is JA Happ ($7,800) with 25.47 DK pts/gm. He tops our Pitcher Value Chart today and would return 3.2x value if he has that average game tonight. I have no idea what has gotten into Happ, but this is clearly the best stretch of his career. He’s racked up 18 Ks in his last two starts and gets the Cubs tonight who have struck out more than any team in the league this season and have an even higher K% vs. LHP. I will be rolling Happ out in almost every lineup.
Another guy who has “found it” lately is Stephen Strasburg ($9,800). The highly touted pitcher has averaged 22.36 DK points per game in his L30 and is coming off a 32.9 point performance against the Mets. He is going to get the woeful Phillies who own the league’s third worst wOBA in the L14. I will be heavily investing in The Strasburger.
How about Joe Kelly ($6,300)? This kid is living up to some of the hype that was put on him at the beginning of the season. He has now returned his owners seven straight games on 18+ DK points. The Orioles are a volatile offense that can explode at times, but are one of the highest strikeout teams in the league. Kelly makes for a high upside GPP play.
If you’re looking for value, take a look at Jhoulys Chacin ($5,700). He has made two starts this season (both at the end of August) and was very respectable in both. He returned his owners 16.1 and 19.6 DK points. He’s going to face a very strikeout prone San Diego Padres team tonight that is floundering around the bottom third of the league in most offensive categories.
