I haven’t been this excited to roster a pitcher in a long time. The dream matchup on the slate. Commentary based on DraftKings strategy and scoring.

Plenty of “aces” on the slate as four pitchers cost more than $10,000. My favorite is David Price ($12,500) and it’s not remotely close. That’s not a knock on Arrieta, Archer or Keuchel but Price is averaging 26.37 DK points per game in the L30 which is third best on this slate (Arrieta, Keuchel). He’s produced a stellar xFIP and the second highest K/9 (11.18) on the slate. The matchup is out of the this world! First, he gets away from the hitter friendly Rogers Centre and travels to Turner Field. He’s going to face a National League team so he won’t have to face a DH and the Braves are absolutely miserable at the dish. No team has a worse wOBA in the 2nd half and only three teams have a worse wOBA vs. LHP this season. Here’s a stud inn a dream matchup. I am deploying him in all formats.

Jaime Garcia ($9,100) is an intriguing GPP play. His rollercoaster season continues as his range of fantasy outputs has spread between -4.3 and 34.2 in his last two starts! Many will be off him since his last game was the negative output, but this matchup with the Brewers is pretty solid. The Brewers rank 24th in wOBA vs. LHP this season and are striking out at nearly 22%.

Speaking of rollercoasters, Ervin Santana ($7,500) has had one hell of a season. He came out of the gates looking like Cy Young, then returned negative fantasy points in four out of six games. Now he’s back to looking like a stud averaging 31.7 DK points in his L3! To say he’s high risk is an understatement, but the Tigers continue to struggle here in the second half. They rank in the bottom 25% of the league in wOBA in the second half and the L14.

There are four pitchers on this slate that have 10+ K/9 in the L30. They are Archer, Price, Keuchel and …. Adam Conley ($4,500)?! Conley has 35 Ks in his L5 starts and hasn’t scored less than 12.5 DK points in any of his L4. That puts him atop our Pitcher Value Chart. The matchup is not great with the hot-hitting Mets, but the ballpark is pitcher friendly and you wouldn’t need much from Conley to hit value. Worth a look as a deep flier and contrarian play.
