It’s that day again, Clayton Kershaw ($14,600) Day! Kershaw continues his dominance of the league and there’s no reason to think that won’t continue again today. Etch him in as the top cash game play of the day as he boasts a tidy 2.25 xFIP over the L30. To go along with that is his massive 10.7 K/9 in the same span. He’s surrendered a combined 3 ER in his L4 starts while tacking on 39 Ks. All aboard the Kershaw train!
Cole Hamels ($10,800) certainly looked like his old self against the Orioles in his last time out. Boasting 10K over 8IP with only two hits allowed. He is going to get a National League team in the SD Padres, so he won’t have to worry about facing a DH in this one. Additionally, Petco Park is one of the most hitter friendly parks in the league and the Padres struggling vs. LHP. The Padres have the 6th worst wOBA in league and the 4th highest K% vs. lefties this season.
Now looks like a good time to talk about Raisel Iglesias ($9,200). After drooling over Kershaw’s advanced metrics, it’s interesting to note that Iglesias has both a better XFIP and a higher K/9 than Kershaw over the L30. He’s been lights out for the Reds, chopping up the Brewers and the DBacks in his last two starts. He faces off with the Cubs today who own the league’s 8th worst wOBA and the highest K% rate in the last week. The only thing better would be if we can get a stiff wind blowing in at Wrigley today!
One of the sneaky plays of the day must be Yordano Ventura ($7,700). No less than 22.2 DK points in any of his L4 starts and will get the great matchup with the Detroit Tigers. The Tigers have hit a wall as of late scoring the 2nd fewest runs in the league over the last week. They only go as far as Miggy goes, who’s in a slump batting .227 this week. In fact, that .227 clip is the third HIGHEST on the Tigers this week. That should show how much the entire team is struggling right now.
