The Joe Musgrove train continues to roll! The Astros rookie has been nothing but impressive in his first three career starts. He’s posting a stellar 1.47 ERA over 18.1 IP while racking up 21 strikeouts. Those gaudy numbers have come against the Rangers and the Blue Jays twice! Tonight he’s going to get the Orioles who are in the midst of one of their worst offensive stretches of the season. They rank 27th in wOBA in the last 30 days. With such a small sample size, Musgrove is risky, but the sample size that we do have is incredibly impressive.

Wow, Jacob deGrom versus Madison Bumgarner in San Francisco. Could this matchup get any better for either guy? Consider that both offenses have been brutal in the last 30 days. The Mets have scored the 3rd fewest runs in that span and the Giants have scored the fewest! Bumgarner looks like his elite self, sporting a 1.93 ERA over his last eight starts, striking out 63 batters in 56 innings. deGrom is on a similarly impressive run sporting a 1.72 ERA in his last eight starts, but it’s his last four that are eye-popping. He’s allowed two earned in 27.2 IP over his last four starts, which is a 0.65 ERA. I suspect both will be heavily owned tonight and with the Giants coming in at a -150 favorite, Bumgarner should lead the way in cash games while deGrom could present a GPP option.

The White Sox are a sneaky stack option tonight against Danny Salazar. Salazar was killer out of the gate this season, posting a 2.22 ERA over his first 15 starts with an impressive .185 batting average against. However, since the calendar turned to July, Salazar has struggled mightily. Over those five starts, he was rocked for 21 ER in 24 innings (7.88 ERA) and opponents hit .337 against him before he hit the disabled list with elbow inflammation. He hasn’t pitched since August 1st and it’s a wonder if he will feel any rust in his first start back. The White Sox are a middle of the road offense who should see a boost playing in Cleveland and they dropped a ten spot last night.
