How much risk are you willing to take on? After you’ve determined the answer to that question, look at Julio Urias. The Dodgers rookie hasn’t made a start since Sept 2 (bruised fingers), but will take the mound tonight against the Yankees. Over his last five games, Urias has been excellent, pitching to the tune of a 1.44 ERA and striking out a batter per inning. In the last 30 days, there are only two pitchers on this slate with a 10+ K/9. Those are Robbie Ray and Julio Urias. The concerns are real as he has to travel to a small, American League park against a team that has vastly improved over the last month. The enticement is that the Yankees rank 24th in wOBA versus LHP this season and despite having a hitter friendly park, still rank in the middle of the pack at home. The range of outcomes here is very wide, Urias should be treated as a GPP play only.

Matt Wisler‘s start yesterday was pushed back to today. This is what I wrote about him before that news broke:

If you want a (much) deeper pull, consider Matt Wisler. He missed nearly all of August with lingering side soreness but looked excellent in his two most recent starts. He’s allowed just two runs over 14 innings and is coming off a career-high 10 strikeouts against the Padres. Today he is going to get the struggling Marlins who rank 27th in wOBA in the last month

Orioles starter, Dylan Bundy, is in a real tough spot tonight. He’s struggling mightily to the tune of a 6.46 ERA in his last five starts. Even more concerning, he’s walking 5.7 batters per nine which is the highest on the slate. Now he has to battle the Red Sox who I do not have to tell you have a potent offense (but  will). They are lapping the league in wOBA in the last thirty days, in the top spot by a large margin. No surprise that they’ve scored the most runs in the league in that span and they are the second best team in the league at home this season (obviously behind the Rockies).
