The Mavericks PG situation is incredibly volatile right now, but with great risk comes great reward. If we get news that Deron Williams will not play (currently questionable), fire up JJ Barea ($5,700) once again. We are running out of opportunities to use this guy and his price is reaching critical mass, but he’s still very much in play on the short slate. The matchup with Sacramento is already sublime, plus they played a tough OKC team last night and now have to travel to Dallas to take on the Mavs. Barea has been excellent in his extended run, averaging 31.9 DraftKings points per game over his last six. I would only touch him if I knew he was going to eat up all of D-Will’s minutes, so keep an eye on the injury report.
This might be a long shot, but OJ Mayo might be on the end of some disciplinary action from the league after his ejection and subsequent outburst towards an official on Saturday night. There hasn’t been official word from the league, but there are recent reports arguing that discipline might still be in order for Mayo. If that happens before tonight’s game, the Bucks could be very shorthanded in the back-court. That would lead to Michael Carter-Williams ($6,700) and Khris Middleton ($7,000) to play big minutes against the Bulls. Both have shown tremendous upside this season, but are far from a sure thing. Keep an eye on Mayo’s status and assess the amount of risk you want to take on Middleton and MCW.
Arron Afflalo ($4,900) was absolutely deadly on Sunday night, shooting 14-17 from the field and piling in 38 real points. It led to a 48.5 DraftKings point performance. We’ve talked in the past that Afflalo is about as streaky as they come and he doesn’t get any hotter than this. To help entice you a bit more, it was the Hawks who he shredded Sunday night, the same team he will get tonight.
On the other side of this game is Kent Bazemore ($5,800). Another player who’s in the midst of a great run right now. Bazemore has heated up, scoring no less than 31 DraftKings points in any of his last three games. What’s most exciting about Bazemore is that he is completely cemented in this Hawks rotation. He’s no longer battle Thabo Sefolsha for minutes and he’s been producing since earning that freedom. Another thing I like about Bazemore is he can help your fantasy team from all angle. The last two games he’s poured in 18 and 26 real points, but it was the game on the 28th that shows his upside. A solid 8-9-6-2 line for 32.25 DraftKings points is what can make him appealing in all formats.
It’s time to pay-up at Power Forward. The top three in Draymond, Boogie and Millsap are all elite options tonight. Draymond ($10,100) is a walking triple-double with or without Curry and in close games and blow-outs. It’s insane at this point. He’s the safest bet at the position since he can score so many different ways, even when he lays a dud it’s good for 35 DraftKings points. Boogie is Boogie ($10,000). He’s always under-owned and one of the biggest threats on the court. Â A monster 33-19 game last night against OKC, the third time in his last five games he’s scored over 32 real points. Since he’s priced in the middle of Draymond and Millsap, he will likely be the most under-owned (again). Millsap ($8,100) is on a massive run right now, averaging 49.6 DraftKings points in his last four games. He’s doing it all for the Hawks, including dropped a 19-9-6 line on these Knicks just two nights ago. Almost all of my PF exposure will come from these three.
Basement pricing on Greg Monroe ($6,500), who should find him self in a quite a few lineups tonight. Outside of a few down games recently, he’s been incredibly efficient for the Bucks this season. We have a nice set of converging trends as he’s playing well and getting the best matchup you could ask for. Monroe has scored 23 and 19 real points in his last two games and always had double-digit upside in the rebounding category. The Bulls have been dead last against centers all season long and just continue to get killed under the basket. Monroe feels like a very solid bet to reach 5x with plenty of opportunity to get to 6x and higher.
The volatile GPP option of choice is going to be Robin Lopez ($4,600). Lopez has score 29+ DraftKings points in three of his last seven including 35 points on the 29th and 42.25 on Sunday against these very Hawks. This is by far the best stretch of basketball that Lopez has played this season, playing a full 7 DKPPG over his season average in this 5 game stretch. Another hot player, in an excellent matchup and one that he just exposed two days ago for his season high in points.
